Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, why it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By using Buffalo County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Buffalo County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server can receive routine technical details about that visit:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Browser name and version
  • Device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent
  • A referring website, when one is supplied
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics services assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
  • Maintaining reliable and prompt page delivery
  • Routing a submitted search to the provider that operates it
  • Measuring which material readers use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect likely interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Buffalo County Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general access information for the shared KPD and sheriff Records Unit, Nebraska trial courts, the Nebraska State Patrol repository, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices, not by this policy. Review those terms before sending a query because we do not control the provider's systems.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Buffalo County offices, Nebraska courts, state agencies, legal resources, or third-party tools. Once you follow an outside link, that destination controls the visit under its own privacy policy. Read it before providing personal details.

Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on their systems rather than ours.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks placing ads on these pages
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet service is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, it can be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide additional rights. Nebraska public-record access is governed by the Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, while dissemination of specified criminal-history information is separately limited by Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-3523. For information held by this private site, you may:

  • Request deletion of personal data we retain
  • Ask for access to information held about you
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Object to certain forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A replacement version will appear here with a new effective date.
